sometimes the answer is so easy!

We have been having a battle since the second week we had her trying to keep her off the furniture. She constantly keeps jumping up on it every time we’re not looking, and we don’t want her to go up there. It’s all the harder because 1) when she’s on the furniture she doesn’t misbehave. she just curls up and is very cute and 2) neither of us actually would mind having her on the furniture. But most likely at some point we will have other people here who do mind having a dog in their lap, and we don’t want her to think she can just go wherever she wants. Also trying to establish that we are above her in the household hierarchy.

So anyway, this was getting exhausting, constantly pushing her off the couch (which would get her all riled up) only to have her jump right back on.

So finally Sam came up with a brilliant solution: maybe she just wants something soft to sleep on. So I picked her up a bed a meijer. And she hasn’t left it since. She has a bed in her crate, but we hadn’t gotten her one for elsewhere in the house because we thought she’d just tear it up. But so far, so good. Just had to stop believing that she was challenging us and being naughty on purpose, and just consider that she wanted somewhere comfortable to sleep. Win-win!
